Time Warner Cable Sucks

By

Cable Television

Unfortunately, Time Warner has a monopoly in my area, so my housemates and I go through them for our cable and internet services. The cable service has been inconsistent and costly. The cable has gone out multiple times in the past couple months for no reason at all. There's no power outage, but Time Warner's service simply as outages every once in awhile. Service will be out for hours at a time. When it comes back on, there's no explanation except that there was an outage and that they're sorry for the inconvenience.

Also, multiple channels have stopped working (without notice) on the televisisons in our house because those channels are strictly being broadcast digitally now. I also just got a notice in the mail that a few more channels are going strictly digital and that I won't be able to watch them unless I purchase a digital box for each television. On top of the costs for the Time Warner digital boxes, I'd also automatically be billed for technicians to install them even if I choose install them myself.

Roadrunner Highspeed Internet

While this internet is fast while it's working, it constantly stops working. It seems like there's not a day that goes by without the internet going out at least for a brief moment. Time Warner has come out to check on our internet many times, but to no avail. Technicians have never found a problem with our router or anything else. Sometimes, they replace random things, just hoping that it'll change something. Well, it never fixes anything.

One day, I was randomly called up by Time Warner, asking if I was interested in aRoadrunner upgrade. I was told it was cost $2 extra per month and cost nothing to install. Little did I know that they would charge me for the installation, as well as $3-10 additional per month for the upgraded service.

Recently, my computer has been having a problem getting on the internet wirelessly, even though the rest of the house's computers have no problem getting online. I knew the problem had to be something with my computer or internet settings. Even after I told Time Warner customer service that I knew the problem was within my computer, they suggested sending out yet another technician to look at the house's internet connection. They also had me stay on the line while they performed signal tests on my modem. After about an hour on the phone, the customer service representative had me transfered to different offices that have people that focus on computers. I went threw a few quick troubleshooting options with this representative that didn't work. Only then did he tell me he couldn't assist me any further because my modem wasn't from Time Warner....But he had already looked up my router and it's information...I don't understand why he couldn't give me a few other options on how to fix my wireless connection.

Digital Phone

Time Warner offers digital phone in a package deal with cable and internet. During one of my last discussions with Time Warner, I was asked if I'd like to add the phone to my current package. Obviously, I declined this service due to the invention of the cell phone. Besides, I already overpay for two piss-poor services, why would I add a third? Well, digital phone showed up on my bill today for over $40. Wtf? Time for another 'discussion' with Time Warner.

Billing

Obviously it's annoying to prepay for cable and internet, but that's what Time Warner requires. The worst part about that is that you never know exactly how much of that internet and cable you're going to receive. You'd think Time Warner would take money off your bill...NO. Due to the constant complaints and service interruption, you'd think they'd make a minimal effort to improve their services...NO.

Time Warner has billed me for visits from techhnicians, even after specifically saying they wouldn't. Recently, they've started adding random taxes onto what used to be a consistent bill. I was also charged $40 for digital home phone on my last bill, despite not ever having this service. Apparently, Time Warner also now has the authority to add money onto last months services after I've already fully paid the bill. Wtf? Where do they get off?

I've heard about Time Warner before and some of my friends have even had the service before and they've said the same thing. None of them really liked the service and I've never really expected them too. I had two different cable providers and I have nothing good to say about either. When I began working at DISH Network, I decided to try out their programming and I know I won't be looking back any time soon. DISH Network has ranked #1 in Customer Satisfaction amongst all TV and satellite providers and there is a reason for that. DISH also provides 100% digital programming everyday, nationwide. I always recommend that people try out DISH Network and I am inviting anyone who comes across this post to explore the endless possibilities with DISH Network and experience a value unheard of by any other TV company!
