Secret to Winning McDonald's Monopoly
Secrets to Winning McNopoly
Every year, McDonald's turns me into a crazed madman because their Monopoly game. I always get sucked in, hoping it will pay off with with one quick peel. This year, I've gotten more into the game than ever before. Not only am I going with friends every single night to McDonald's and ordering off the Monopoly menu, but I'm also entering every single code I get online for an extra chance to win. Recently, I decided to do some research as to how I improve my chances of winning a cash prize. From what I've learned, there is one secret--DON'T PLAY. The odds are so significantly against you winning that it is not even worth playing, unless you enjoy it simply for the thrill of peeling the pieces.
McDonald's doesn't randomly make and distribute game pieces. Every set has one piece that is extremely rare to find. Apparently, the odds of winning even the smallest cash prize is about 1 in every 91,000. Most of the other prizes are less likely than winning millions of dollars in the lottery. McDonald's gives out millions of most property pieces and then only a few of others. There is one piece that is extremely rare in each set. For example, Park Place is easy to get ahold of, but the Boardwalk game piece is almost non-existent. McDonald's only prints three Boardwalk pieces and only one person can claim the million dollar prize. Think of how many McDonald's there are in your county, let alone the entire country. There are two McDonald's in my city alone. They each are probably selling a couple pieces a minute. With that in mind, it is way too difficult to get hands on a rare game piece. Not only is a Boardwlak piece not at the McDonald's that you typically go to, but it's probably not even at a McDonald's in your state. Based on the rarity of winning pieces, I recommend not even getting involved with this promotion.
You may be thinking that playing online would give you much better chances to win, since you have what looks like a chance to land on every property. Although I don't know the exact statistics, I propose that's it's less likely to win online than finding the right physical pieces. I've entered all my pieces online and the same thing happens. There is one property in every set that is pretty much impossible to land on. I am missing exactly one property from each set. If I land on anything new, I will win cash. I've gone around the board multiple times now and still have not landed on any of the spots I need. The dice rolls are obviousy rigged. I've read first-hand accounts from people have gotten the correct dice roll to win a cash prize. That's when something odd happens. One person said he landed on the property he needed and then the site had an error. He had to refresh the page. When the page started working again, his playing piece was back where it was before the dice roll and then his code that he entered didn't work because the site said he already entered the code. Another gamer said he got the correct number he needed on the die, but as his piece was moving, one of the die changed to a higher number so that his game piece would miss the desired propert. Based on my own playing experience and the accounts I've read online, I strongly advise you not to spend extra money on the McDonald's Monopoly game, no matter how enticing it might seem.

I realize I didn't make a breakthrough. This is just something that I was really into. I'm trying to save people the trouble of going to McDonald's more than usual and wasting money. I know that this isn't all new information, but it's something I felt the need to write about.
Also, I don't know whether or not the glitches are true since I didn't experience them. Regardless though, the point is that you're not going to win by playing online. I've gone all the way around the board now 20-30 times without landing a new property.
Anyways, I'm trying to be helpful, while at the same time take my anger out from this promotion.
That sucks. McDonald's sucks. Their junk is making everyone fat, ugly and sick and then they insult our intelligence with this stupid "game"? F McDonald's!
I lose every time.
I rolled a six while on New York Ave and thought I won Short Line RR. My lil' ol battleship was moved...then it moved again...past Short Line RR...then again past ? to Park Place. That's when I said the hell with it. (the game gave me another roll of the die-my six was a 5 and a 1-not a double 3.)
Just a 'nuther note: bought th' big 'ol Angus burger meal as "take out"...it offered 2 more game pieces on th' box the burger came in. After gettin' back to work I discovered the box DID NOT have the game pieces. Next day again at Mikey D's...I mentioned this and they said "they no longer have Angus burger boxes with the game pieces."
I usually do not eat McDonlad's "stuff' fer lunch much...but I did take stock in th' number of game pieces I have collected and realized I was buying considerably more "stuff" from this fast food joint. Had to tell myself "Whoa horsey-that's enuff!" No mo' monopoly cuz I KNOW I will not realize any reward(s).
Po Boy, I feel for you. I never win either. I put in the maximum amount of entries online almost every night too. I go almost every night now and buy things right off the Monopoly menu just to win, yet three times I've gotten back home only to find out that my large drink cup had no pieces on it. And what you said about ur online experiences--that really sucks. It makes me so mad that they can rig it like that, but I find myself playing and wasting my money anyways. I am so addicted.
I got into the game last year. I only needed one piece in almost all of the sections both the peels and online. The other piece never appeared, not even for the smallest prize. I realized it was so not worth it. Your chances of winning the lottery are higher than your chances of winning anything other than food at McDonald's.
I played one time and pulled off boardwalk. I traded it in for one million double cheeseburgers. In hind sight, I should have got something to drink too.
Cocopreme, I completely agree with you. Today's the last day to get game pieces and I don't think it's been worth it all.
Dollar Menunaire, bad trade.
I'm not sure about what kind of game they are playing. I played the Monopoly game a few years ago; I had Park Place, my friend had Boardwalk. I called them up and was told that only pieces with a call number on them were the true winning pieces. Bullshit.
Friend of mine bought McDonalds "stuff" fer lunch (I was riding along)-he was hoping fer some game pieces-got th' big 'ol Angus cow sammitch w/extra large fries and corn syrup drink ($6.55!)-no game pieces! He was pissed-I just laughed...FOOL! McD's still had th' big banner ads toutin' th' monopoly game pasted on windows,etc...
M.M. That's the most ridiculous thing I ever heard. I would talk to a lawyer or something bout that. It sounds like McDonalds screwed you outta a million dollars.
and po boy, I think Mcdys shoulda took their signs down, but I guarantee that wasn't an accident
@raquetsportatlas:
Sadly, there's nothing I could do about it now - those pieces are long gone.
I like th' folks comments on this blog..gonna come back here often..(really like that there is no flashin' flippin' ads tryin' to deceive-that's rare these days!)Advertising is just like a Hoover vacuum-they suck!
M.M.--I feel for you, I'd stay away from the game after an experience like that
po boy--I appreciate the kind words
Was just thinkin'...maybe McD's outta change game to "Wall Street"...at least one could cheat,lie,deceive-get other folk's money, an' most important...get away with it,eh? Just a thought...
That's not a bad idea--one problem though. Not many people would find excitement in playing "Wall Street." The nice thing about Monopoly is that you get a proprty just about every time. It's much less fun to get a "Sorry, try again" piece than a common property piece, even if they mean the same thing.
call me naive but, until recently, i didn't even bother with checking on stuff like the odds but was under the illusion that when playing online, you got random dice rolls. of course now i realize this was all just a bunch of b.s.
this year, they don't even have the damn board. you just pick one of three cards (they even give you an option to change your pick) and i had a total of 8 pieces and entered the codes. lo and behold- THEY WERE ALL LOSERS!
yep, i am now officially shocked i guess.
i am done for good with this crap.
alright so, I dont think anyone here has bothered to read the rules, but the chances of winning aren't "random", there are winning times set by the game computer and the first person to enter a code online during that time wins. Last years game had a board and if you won, you're piece would automatically move to that spot. This game is rigged, the chances of winning are way too low. IF you get drawn for the 1 million $ prize you still have to roll double 6's to win the million. Spend your money elsewhere and eat healthier :)
fail. lol
gonna have to agree w/ xuboi on this one ^^
One summer my friend & went to seemed like 100 Mcdonalds when they had the contest on, at the end of the day & night we had 3 COMPLETE boards missing one piece in every section. We drank a bunch of diet cokes and ate a bunch of fries for NOTHING---this year ever piece sez ERROR and when I try & log in it sez ERROR, and 3 times tonight I asked for my password to be sent & it said it did and POOF nada, nada, nada and yes I checked my spam folder. I think I must be too old to play so I am locked out---they only want kids to play 2010.
Damn I knew this shyt was rigged. This is the first year I've gotten into this mcdonalds crap and I knew there had to be somthing messed up about it. Glad I found this blog. Now I'm going back to just playing the lottery. Lol.
The chances of winning the McDonald's monopoly game and the lottery are slim to none. Point is- the amount of money you spend on either is about 99.5% not worth it.
I've played the monopoly game vigorously, knowing the chances of winning were not in my favor, for years now. It catches me every time. I have achieved every piece but one in EACH set. A game where the possibility seems to be there does a 360 degree turn and proves to be impossible.
Even if there were more than 20 pieces of each of the rarest
MC DONALDS RICH BITCH! 3 million dollars is a penny for em! why you think theyre the #1 sponsor for NFL?
they dont need to cheat. they already make enough.
if u still think so... a dollar menu is a cheat too?
lol theres no any fastfood chain in the world can sell cheaper then MCdonalds.
Everytime I go to McDonalds & choose something from the menu I was trying to get the items on the monopoly menu to get game pieces of course but it seems Everytime I do that the drink or sandwich, whichever it might be doesn't have game pieces on it. Needless to say its false advertisement & the only way I'm playing anymore if I order something that I actually want that has the game pieces on it & ill just hope for free food lol cuz that's about all you can lookk forward to....a def waste of time & money I don't understand how they have the game still going after all these years?
for the 2011 year ive played for about a week and have entered about 60 codes online and have won 1 red box rental
and 2 30 coca cola points...and have allready gotten 15 park place bull shit only 3 boardwalk i fucken hate this game why do this to america, who do they think they are not but a bunch of scam artist's if u ask me but i still like the dollar menu
why do u tease me mcdonald's whyyyyyyyyyyyyy
i came across a board walk once in knoxville tennessee but park place was nowhere to be found no matter how much money i spent thats plain bs if you ask me
Eh i wuz all excited bout it till i read this lol depressing:/ im askin everybody i know in state n outta state to find the pieces i need, imma find other ways to get free money lol
I Have boardwalk but i need park place
The online game does NOT provide random "rolls" the server running the site generates "winning rolls" every so often.
To the mcd monopoly hub i shared in your frustration with the online game that was until this morning when after breakfast I played. I won a prize of some value not just a yummy medium size fries or a quarter pounder. I won one of the ea sports video game titles. So yes I agree the odds are against you there are winnable prizes. I hope to all win or lose the game continues to be an annual enjoyment like it has been for me.
its true YOU will NEVER EVER win Mcdonalds Monopoly they just do this so more people play and buy stuff thinking tbey will win a prize but they dont. Trust me everyone i worked at Mcdonalds in Riverside for 13 years as a manager and in those 13 Years i havent seen anyone win. i even had a huge box of momopoly pieces that i took and i went home and peeled them all and i got all the pieces except 1 of each set. I would hsve to say i peeled over 6,000 pieces and NONE were winners except for nasty ass food. trust me i know how it works and you will NEVER win. dont waste your money
I have park place I need boardwalk.
Well, at least I have the free food to tide me over.
my autistic son got boardwalk on Oct 1 in Eureka Springs Ar and because he has no social skills he did not know the value and lost it,This is a true story,I saw the game piece.
@Tyler
I have 2 park place; LET'S TALK
@Hannah
I hope you are joking, because he surely is. Don't fall for people over the internet.
tyler i need board walk i can gwt u parkplace
Tyler is BS ING i am sure hes some immature little boy trying to get some attention. He doesn't have boardwalk. and as for the lady's autistic son i hope your lying because if not that's crap that all these people are spending there hard earned money for the chance to win a million dollars and here you crap on all our dreams and waste a good piece.
I only play to get free fries, which I've gotten many times in the past and once this year
I have 2 of the 3 pieces for every set, I do believe they rip you off just so you can buy more of their food. McDonald's claims that the 20 pc. Nuggets have 4 pieces on them, well I got it today and there were no pieces, bs.
Po boy i really hope one day you read this. You are a piece of shit. Your family is a piece of shit. I wish your bloodline was erased from this earth. Your stupidity only holds society back. You are everything that is wrong wit the world you lying sack of shit.
I won tons of fries i won sandwiches and drinks too.But online i won Redbox Movie Nights,30 Coke Rewards,Snapfish, and finally one EA Sports Video Game.
are so stupid...no one is ripping you off or scamming you. Like the author said, the odds of winning are ridiculous. They ALWAYS are, if they weren't the companies would go bankrupt.
They did give a ton of crap away, and although you'll probably never meet a grandprize winner, they do exist.
It's fun playing the game, but you gotta realize that you could buy an entire city out and still not win the grand prize.
Take the game for what it is, fun...Stop being so gullable that you think your meal ticket has come in, and then so bitter to find out in the end it actually didn't.
By the way, a lot of these sites now use randomly generated times to determine when a prize will be awarded. This way it's near impossible to cheat the system, unless you can get the time somehow. So these things aren't cheating anyone.
Do glitches happen? Sure...but it's much more likely that the glitch was what you saw, not what actually happened.
i love mcdonalds but theyre fatening and annyoing haha i hate ronald mcdonald but i love the big macs and fries:) but i think i like wendys fries better haha well... okay bye bye:) lol

this is real ive won £1000000 off of them
Wow 2 years ago
what a breakthrough you've made on the mechanics of the mcdonalds monopoly [sarcasm].
I'm willing to bet all those rumors you've heard about glitches in the online portion are false. The rolls are rigged to where you only win a prize if mcdonalds wants you to win a prize, they don't have to cheat once you do.
