Why do people hate Lebron James?
73
NBA Draft Eligibility--Lebron petitioned the NBA to be allowed to enter te NBA before he completed high school, but was denied.
Hummer--Lebron's mom was approved for a loan to purchase a Hummer on Lebron's 18th birthday. Because of high schoolers not being allowed to receive gifts of over $100 in value based on their athletic skills, this prompted an investigation by the OHSAA.
Throwback Jerseys--Lebron accepted two throwback jerseys from an urban clothing store worth over $800. Lebron was stripped of his high school eligibility as a result. Lebron won a n appeal and got the sentence reduced to a two-game suspension. This resulted in Lebron's Saint Vincent Saint Mary's to forfeit one of their games.
NCAA Eligibility--Lebron foreited his NCAA eligibility by participating in more than two high school all-star events.
Yankees Cap--Lebron infamously wore a Yankees cap to a Cleveland Indians home game against the Yankees. He also admitted to being an avid fan of the Yankees, Chicago Bulls, and Dallas Cowboys while growing up--despite being raised near Cleveland.
Darfur--Declined to sign a petition started by Ira Newble (former Cavalier teammate). It was about China's government alledgedly being involved in a conflict in Darfur, a region of Sudan.
Ticketed--Lebron was stopped by the police for speeding. He was driving a ridiculous 101 miles per hour in a 65 mile per hour speed limit.
Beijing--It's been reported that Lebron James nearly got kicked off the 2008 "Redeem Team" because of his "immaturity and downright disrespectfulness."
Dunked On--Lebron was dunked on by Xavier's Jordan Crawford at one of his Lebron James Skill Camps. This wouldn't be a big deal, except that video tape footage was ordered to be confiscated by Nike.
Sit Down--During a regular season against the Celtics, Lebron was fouled hard by Paul Pierce. The foul carried the two, as well as Kevin Garnett, into the stands. Lebron's mother, Gloria James, was only a couple seats away and appeared to be coming to her son's defense. However, it looks as is Lebron told his mother to sit her a** down!
Hand Shake--After losing to the Orlando Magic in the 2008-2009 playoffs, Lebron left the court without shaking hands with the Magic players. His actions were thought of as ingracious and immature, but Lebron justified them as just part of his competitiveness.

Elbow-gate--Lebron apparently had some elbow pain in the 2009-2010 playoffs against the Chicago Bulls. He had multiple MRIs, but never was diagnosed with any kind of injury. Lebron went as far as shooting a left-handed free throw during a game. Although Lebron was supposedly nursing elbow pain through the following playoff series with the Celtics, it was never used as anything but an excuse when Lebron was playing poorly.
Quitter--In game 6 of the 2010 playoff series against the Boston Celtics, it's widely accepted that Lebron quit on his team and his city when the Cavs started to fall behind. Maybe he's not the competitor he claims to be, and maybe his head was already in South Beach.
Tipping--Lebron reportedly doesn't like to tip much at restaurants in the Cleveland area. One report states that he tipped $10 on an $800 bill. This obviously hasn't helped his image in any way.
Response to "The Decision"
The Decision--Lebron became a free agent after the 2009-2010 season. He was courted by teams like never before in history. He hand-picked team's to come to Cleveland to pitch to him why he should join their team. Not only did Lebron prolong his decision, but he set up an hour-long special on ESPN, called The Decision. That's when he would announce what team he'd be playing for in the upcoming NBA season. Lebron chose to take his talents to the Miami Heat. The biggest issue was that he embarassed his franchise and hometown on national television without even forewarning them of his decision. He also has been accused of caliberating with Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade to play together even before he became a free agent. It didn't help that Lebron had promised he wouldn't quit until he brought a championship to Cleveland.
What Should I do?--Accepting the role of villian, Lebron and Nike put out a controversial commercial in which Lebron is asking fans what else he should do, since the fans obviously expect him to be a role model and have high moral fiber. The city of Cleveland made their own parody of the commercial to express their distaste in Lebron's decision.
12 Days of Quitness
12 Days of Quitness--This is my personal favorite video on YouTube. It's Lebron's face super-imposed on an animated, dancing elf. In the background, a parody of the 12 Days of Christmas is playing. It talks about Lebron quitting on his team, shooting lefty free throws, embarassing Cleveland, etc.
Karma--Lebron tweeted "Crazy. Karma is a b****. Gets you everytime. It's not good to wish bad on anybody. God sees everything!" This was immediately after the Cavs were blown out by the Lakers by 55 points. Initially, James stuck by his Tweet. The next day, he claimed that it was somebody else's Tweet. Ironically, Lebron was injured in his very next game. Not only that, but the Heat started a losing streak
